Player Cards in MLB The Show 26
Common questions about player ratings, quirks, and building your team.
The ShowZone Player Database is a comprehensive tool for browsing, searching, and comparing every player card in MLB The Show 26. You can filter by position, rarity, team, and dozens of attributes to find exactly the card you need for your squad. Each card includes detailed ratings, quirks, and real-time market prices to help you make smart decisions.
True Overall™ recalculates a player's rating using a transparent, position-weighted formula — so a shortstop isn't rated the same way as a first baseman. Meta Overall goes further by factoring in the current gameplay meta to show how effective a card actually is in online play. You can sort and filter by both ratings in the Top 25 rankings.
Use the position filter to narrow the database to a specific position, then sort by True Overall™ or Meta Overall to see the top-rated cards. You can also use the Team Builder to automatically fill your lineup with the best available cards at every position.
Player ratings in MLB The Show 26 are updated by San Diego Studio through roster updates, typically released on Fridays. ShowZone's database syncs these changes as soon as they go live. Market prices update every 60 seconds, so you always have the latest data when evaluating cards.
Quirks are passive abilities that boost a player's performance in specific situations — like "Dead Red" for fastball hitting or "Outlier" for extra pitch velocity. Active quirks trigger during gameplay while passive quirks provide hidden attribute boosts. Browse all available quirks on the quirks page.
Use the Player Compare tool to place two or more cards side by side and see exactly how their attributes, quirks, and ratings stack up. This is especially useful when deciding between similar cards at the same position.
Card rarity in MLB The Show 26 is based on the player's overall rating: Diamond (85+), Gold (80-84), Silver (75-79), Bronze (65-74), and Common (64 and below). Higher rarity cards generally have better attributes, but True Overall™ and Meta Overall ratings can reveal hidden gems at lower rarities that outperform their overall suggests.
