Player Rankings in MLB The Show 26
How ShowZone's Top 25 rankings work and what the ratings mean.
The best player in MLB The Show 26 depends on how you weight ratings. ShowZone ranks every card by True Overall (skill ceiling) and Meta Overall (current online meta). Use the Top 25 lists above to see the #1 card at every position, pitch type, and batting style — flip the True/Meta toggle on each ranking page to see how the order changes between the two systems.
The best cards in MLB The Show 26 are the top-rated players across every position and skill category. ShowZone publishes 20+ Top 25 lists ranking the best catchers, infielders, outfielders, designated hitters, starting pitchers, relievers, closers, plus best-by-pitch-type and best-by-batting-style. Pick a category above to drill in, or browse the full player database to search and filter every card in the game.
Click any position category above (Best Catchers, Best Shortstops, Best Starting Pitchers, etc.) to see the top 25 cards at that position. Each list ranks by True Overall by default but can be sorted by Meta Overall via the toggle on the page. Rankings update automatically after every roster update so the lists always reflect the latest meta.
ShowZone Pro members can sync their MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty inventory so every Top 25 ranking page marks which cards are already in their collection. Free users see the same rankings without the inventory overlay. The Pro inventory sync also powers Team Builder — drag-and-drop your owned cards into a lineup and see how close your squad is to the optimal Top 25 build at every position.
ShowZone's Top 25 rankings use True Overall and Meta Overall ratings rather than the in-game overall number. True Overall recalculates each card with a position-weighted formula. Meta Overall builds on that and factors in the current online meta — pitch speeds, swing animations, and how the card actually plays. Toggle between True and Meta on each position ranking page.
True Overall uses a transparent, position-weighted formula to recalculate every card's rating — so a shortstop isn't graded the same way as a designated hitter. Meta Overall builds on that by factoring in the current online gameplay meta, accounting for things like pitch speeds, swing animations, and how effective a card actually plays. A card can have a high True Overall but a lower Meta Overall if it doesn't play well online.
Rankings update automatically whenever San Diego Studio releases a roster update — roughly every three weeks during the MLB regular season. ShowZone syncs the new ratings as soon as they go live. Use the Roster Update Predictor to see which players are likely to enter or fall out of the rankings before each update.
Yes — each position and category page has a toggle to switch between the current game and all-time rankings. All-time rankings compare cards across every MLB The Show title, so you can see how today's best stack up against cards from previous years.
Pitch type rankings (like Best Sinkers or Best Sliders) rank pitchers by how effective a specific pitch is — combining velocity, break, and control ratings for that pitch. Helps find pitchers with elite individual pitches, not just the best overall pitching cards.
Batting rankings are split by handedness (switch, left, right) and style (power, contact, balanced). Power rankings prioritize raw power attributes, contact rankings favor plate vision and contact ratings, and balanced rankings combine both. This helps you find the right card for your hitting approach.
