The latest Feature Premiere for MLB The Show 25 landed today. Today’s feature was on Road to the Show.
Here are the key takeaways.
You choose a state which dictates the region you’re from. You’ll embark on a mission to win the State Championship.
Metal bats and chain-link fences will add immersive detail with authentic sound. There is also unique high school animations that are intentionally different from what we’ve seen at the MLB level.
There are eight different NCAA programs in the game that will actively recruit you. Each college will offer different perks to help you shape your ballplayer, adding yet another immersive player-choice element. The colleges represented in MLB The Show 25 are:
Players will have complete choice over how their ballplayer undergoes the process of reaching of Major League Baseball. From getting drafted directly out of high school, to attending college to build on your goals, to skipping the Draft Combine or attending to raise your draft stock. There was intention put into replayability of Road to the Show and the ability to have branching paths for different ballplayers certainly sounds full of replayability. This includes different packages and Perks.
Exposure will influence how high you’re drafted alongside your performance.
There are new high school and college stadiums with region specific landmarks and scenery.
Every game you play at both the high school level and college level will directly affect how scouts view your ballplayer.
Show Points can be turned into Tokens. 100 SP will create 1 Token.
You can finally become the first overall pick by choosing the right path.
After choosing a college, there’s a time jump to your draft year to begin the process of reaching MLB.
CAPs remain exclusive to RTTS and are not usable in Diamond Dynasty.
Tokens are a new currency within Road to the Show to purchase perks and upgrades. Loadouts and skill sets are no longer in the mode. Ballplayers are explicitly improved with Tokens. You can use in-game templates to develop a player in a specific archetype, or completely customize your own ballplayer.
Presumably, this allows total customization. If you want a 99 overall generational talent, you can do it. However, it also sounds like we’ll be able to “reign in” attributes and customize “more realistic” ballplayers.
Perks have specific “trigger timing” that act as the conditions for the Perk turning on. You can also upgrade specific traits along an RPG-style upgrade tree. It was stated that Perks are always active, which implies there’s nothing specific outside of trigger conditions for the Perks to activate.
When upgrading Perks, you can reduce trigger timing or increase the buff effects.
Perk upgrades are not locked and can be altered.
You can upgrade specific attributes or increase them as a group (Contact, Power, Fielding, Throwing, Baserunning.)
Equipment no longer affects individual attributes. Instead, they buff your equipped perks by a set percentage based on the type.
Aluminum bats will cycle between set types to choose from. Metal bats WILL NOT be available in Diamond Dynasty.
There’s a new call-up/send-down logic applied.
High school attributes are reduced compared to college and MLB. A true scaling follows your path.
There’s now an “End Game Alert” that notifies you that you may not be involved in the final play, but allows you to experience the end of the game regardless.
MLB Debut Patches will be featured in RTTS and Franchise.
