MLB The Show 25: Signature Series Mega Breakdown

The Signature Series card series in MLB The Show can often bring some of the best versions of players that we see. We haven't seen a ton of these cards this year, which makes the Signature Series drop today feel a bit more special. There's a full program, themed Mini Seasons, themed pack, and a new collection with a community favorite as the ultimate reward.

Inked Mini Seasons

The themed Mini Seasons challenge features Signature Series rewards and missions. You can earn a total of 3 Signature Series cards by completing missions and winning the Mini Seasons championship.

Unlock Signature DJ LeMahieu by tallying 750 PXP with Signature Series players.

Unlock Signature Don Baylor by tallying 7 Hits with Signature DJ LeMahieu.

Unlock Signature Johan Santana by winning the Inked Mini Seasons championship.

You can also two Signature Choice Packs by hitting 5 HRs with LeMahieu/Baylor and by scoring 104 total Runs in a single Inked Mini Seasons run.

Signature Choice Pack

The premium pack in the Show Shop is a standard base/mid/rare round setup. There's 8 total Signature Series cards in the pack featuring the following players:

Signature Collection

As with every premium card set, there's a new collection for Signature Series cards.

There's not many Signature Series cards currently in the game, so your work will be cut out for you. It's worth noting the only two previously available Signature Series cards that feed into the collection are Live Series MLB collection reward Carlos Beltran and Inning Boss Corey Kluber. All other cards eligible for the collection (at launch) come from the pack, program, and Mini Seasons challenge.

Collect 7 Signature Series cards to unlock 99 overall Signature Darren O'Day.

Collect 15 Signature Series cards to unlock 99 overall Signature Jorge Posada.

Darren O'Day doesn't have elite stuff, but still debuts as the #4 RP in True Overall and #10 in Meta Overall. That lack of pure stuff will hurt the Meta rating, but the attributes are unreal with 125 H/9 and Clutch being critical for any reliever. Lack of velocity doesn't hurt the strikeouts, either, with 120 K/9 and a solid 104 BB/9 giving O'Day sizable PAR regions. O'Day's lowest Control rating is 95 (!) on his Circle Change, meaning he should dot pretty much everything at all times. Don't forget about the janky delivery that can make it difficult to see the ball! O'Day is a very worthy collection reward.

Jorge Posada, on the other hand, debuts as the top Catcher option in both True and Meta Overall. I was wondering where he'd land relative to Home Run Derby Cal Raleigh, but Posada's overall card balance makes him the top backstop easily in Meta Overall. There's nothing to hate on here. A switch-hitting Catcher with these attributes, with my personal favorite swing in the game, with Gold Fielding and 50 Speed? I'll take that every day. Posada is perennially one of the most popular backstops in Diamond Dynasty for a reason, and this Signature Series iteration proves why in spades.

Closing Thoughts

The massive Signature Series drop brings a bunch of new cards, with many fun legends included. Obviously, the collection for Jorge Posada will be the most talked about aspect, but David Wright is the #2 overall 3B in Diamond Dynasty and is earned for free in the program. Jake Arrieta and Bernie Williams are both top options at their respective positions and fun rare round cards to chase.
