MLB The Show 26 Game Updates: Every Patch, Newest First
Every MLB The Show 26 game update in one place, newest first. Each entry has the date it went live, the version numbers, a link to San Diego Studio's official notes, and a short summary of what actually changed for players. We update this page every time a new patch ships.
What is a game update?
A game update is a patch you download. It changes the game itself: gameplay tuning, bug and crash fixes, menus, stadiums, uniforms, equipment and player likenesses. SDS posts notes for each one on theshow.com, usually the day before it goes live. PlayStation and Xbox patches go live at 4 AM PT. Switch sometimes gets the same patch later.
In MLB The Show 26, SDS shipped 18 patches with public notes between March 15 and October 1, 2026, roughly one every one to three weeks. They came more often in the first two months and less often after the All-Star break.
Game updates are not the same as these:
- Roster updates change player ratings. In Diamond Dynasty, Live Series cards move up and down after a roster update, which is a separate event with no download. Use our Roster Update Predictor to see which cards are likely to move, and Roster Update History for past changes.
- Content drops add new programs, packs and cards to Diamond Dynasty. These are server-side too. Patch notes often say a change "will take effect after a content update around noon PT", which means you get the patch first and the change shows up when that day's content goes live.
Latest update: Game Update 19, October 1, 2026 Version: PS5 1.0019, Xbox Series X|S 1.0.93, Switch 1.019. This patch only updated player likenesses: new faces and models for a batch of players including Byron Buxton, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts. SDS said some of them would show up after the October 2 roster update. Official notes

Every game update, newest first
Game Update 19 — October 1, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0019 · Xbox 1.0.93 · Switch 1.019
This was a likeness-only patch: updated faces and player models for a long list of players, including Byron Buxton, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Manny Machado and Clay Holmes. SDS said some of the likenesses would show up after the October 2 roster update.
Game Update 18 — September 15, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0018 · Xbox 1.0.90 · Switch 1.018
Julio Franco got an updated batting stance, and two pieces of Adidas gear were added: the Adizero 6.0 El Sazon batting gloves and the Adizero Impact 3.0 Somos cleats. It also fixed a Road to the Show bug that stopped you from unequipping sleeves, and updated likenesses for players including Kyle Bradish, Jose Ramirez and Kenley Jansen.
Game Update 17 — September 1, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0017 · Xbox 1.0.88 · Switch 1.017
This fixed a black screen that could happen after a home run at Field of Dreams. It also updated the Code of Conduct: once this patch was live, promoting third-party Stubs sellers (sponsorships, referral codes and similar) became grounds for a suspension or permanent ban.
Game Update 16 — August 13, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0016 · Xbox 1.0.85 · Switch 1.016
The Field of Dreams stadium was added. The patch also fixed Exhibition: Daily Lineups so it lists the right starting pitchers for the day, and fixed a crash when restarting a Mini Season after reaching the playoffs.
Game Update 15 — August 3, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0015 · Xbox 1.0.82 · Switch 1.015
A Diamond Dynasty cleanup patch. It fixed the XP wheel showing only silver rewards, Captains that couldn't be assigned in Diamond Quest, wrong batting average and home run totals in Mini Seasons, and the wrong pitcher getting the loss in extra innings. It also fixed Adrian Houser's release point.
Game Update 14 — July 9, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0014 · Xbox 1.0.79 · Switch 1.014
The biggest gameplay patch of the year. Bear Down pitches now always hit top-end velocity and the PAR gets smaller on perfect input. Hitters get a bigger PCI on same-handed breaking balls down and away, which SDS says are still the hardest pitches to square up but are now less punishing. Offline Home Run Derby moved to swing-count rules with no timer or outs, and All-Star rosters were updated. Switch got the patch at 5 PM PT the same day.
Game Update 13 — July 2, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0013 · Xbox 1.0.73 · Switch 1.013
This fixed a bug where some players booted into the default roster instead of the latest live roster, and a bug that stopped pickoffs at first after picking a secondary pitch. Josh Hader and Michael King got new pitching animations, and Grant Taylor's release point was fixed.
Game Update 12 — June 16, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0012 · Xbox 1.0.68 · Switch 1.012
SDS closed an exploit that let players simulate the WBC Mini Seasons championship game over and over for rewards, and reverted that Mini Season's rewards to the Championship bundle. Mini Seasons playoffs now show the series record, and the depth of field setting works properly on Xbox.
Game Update 11 — June 2, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0011 · Xbox 1.0.64 · Switch 1.011
The Open Packs button now shows how many packs you have unopened, and Ryan Waldschmidt's bat no longer glows bright green. It also fixed a head-to-head freeze after a mound-visit pitching change and a crash when viewing a player card from the pause menu, and came with a Franchise-specific roster of 40+ likeness, attribute and transaction updates after that day's content update. The likeness changes also applied in Diamond Dynasty.
Game Update 10 — May 22, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.0010 · Xbox 1.0.61 · Switch 1.010
This fixed the "program error" that could appear when viewing programs and a freeze during no-doubt home run presentations in Conquest. Diamond Quest no longer gives you the same challenge twice in one run.
Game Update 9 — May 14, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.009 · Xbox 1.0.57 · Switch 1.09
This fixed the PCI anchor not lining up with the anchor points in the strike zone, and made Live Content tiles on the Diamond Dynasty home tab clickable. SDS also said live roster ratings updates are now tuned for Franchise, separate from the Diamond Dynasty Live Series attribute updates.
Game Update 8 — May 7, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.008 · Xbox 1.0.53 · Switch 1.08
This added the Pirates and Rangers City Connect bats promised in Update 7. It also fixed a freeze in the Player Upgrades menu and runners sometimes not showing on base at the start of Moments and Showdowns.
Game Update 7 — April 30, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.007 · Xbox 1.0.50 · Switch 1.07
The Diamond Dynasty strike zone now follows real-world ABS rules, so any pitch that touches the zone is a strike. Umpires are still perfect and there are no challenges. The zone looks slightly smaller, but SDS says that's only visual. The patch also closed a head-to-head exploit that could give an incorrect win or loss from the lineup screen, added Pirates and Rangers City Connect uniforms, and the notes explain how PCI shrinkage on pitches down and away works.
Game Update 6 — April 15, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.006 · Xbox 1.0.46 · Switch 1.06
This added 2026 City Connect uniforms for the Braves, Orioles, Reds, Royals, Brewers and Padres, and fixed a home run boundary in right field at Oracle Park. In Diamond Dynasty it fixed card art that looked static or corrupted and a bug that blocked assigning or removing a Captain.
Game Update 5 — April 9, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.005 · Xbox 1.0.43 · Switch 1.05
A small patch that fixed a crash during certain presentations and improved Weekend Classic stability. SDS said a bigger update would follow the next week.
Game Update 4 — March 29, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.004 · Xbox 1.0.0.42 · Switch 1.04
Batters no longer pull back from pitches near the strike zone, and runners can no longer advance on check-swing appeals. In Diamond Dynasty, pitchers no longer get only three innings of energy in nine-inning games. Franchise got lower expected contracts for starting pitchers and outfielders, plus Trade Alert improvements. Switch got the patch on March 30 at 5 PM PT.
Game Update 3 — March 20, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.003 · Xbox 1.0.37 · Switch 1.03
This fixed pitch velocities in menus not matching what pitchers throw in games, a crash in Classic Mode Mini Seasons, and a Franchise bug that could affect rookie eligibility and service time. After you finish a Moment, the game now returns you to its program.
Game Update 2 — March 15, 2026
Official notes · PS5 1.002 · Xbox 1.0.34 · Switch 1.02
The first patch with public notes arrived during early access. It fixed ABS challenges being upheld or overturned incorrectly, foul balls counting as home runs at Rogers Centre, and a freeze in online head-to-head games with out-of-position players. Attribute bars now go up to 125. Switch got the patch on March 16 at 4 PM PT.
Game Update 1
SDS didn't publish notes for a Game Update 1; their MLB The Show 26 patch notes start with Update 2 during early access.
