One of the most electric performances in baseball history is getting the spotlight it deserves in MLB The Show 25 beginning next week. The Twenty In June program, a tribute to Sammy Sosa’s legendary 20-home-run month during June 1998, has launched and plays out across the entire month of June.
This new content drop honors Sosa’s explosive power surge with missions and moments that take you day-by-day through his historic stretch. It’s a full-on celebration of one of the most iconic months any player has ever had.
At the end of it all: a 95 Overall Retro Lightning Sammy Sosa card that’s ready to light up your Diamond Dynasty lineup.
Return of Daily Moments
Throughout June, The Show will roll out new Moments and Missions tied to specific dates from Sosa’s 1998 rampage. You’ll be tasked with recreating actual homers from that historic month on the real anniversary of each dinger. This is reminiscent of the Daily Moments program that was included in Diamond Dynasty a few years ago.
That program design had some cool rewards, but also brought some pressure to boot up the game every day to not fall behind.
No Fear, No Missing Out
This program design, however, is built for everyone regardless of time investment. None of the content expires, so whether you start the first day or the following month, you’ll still have the opportunity to unlock Sosa. It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia and flexibility, letting you grind at your own pace with no fear of missing out.
Retro Lightning Sammy Sosa Attributes
Looking back on Sosa's history in MLB The Show, we can find a 95 overall Captain version from MLB The Show 23.
That card looked like this:

As we discussed recently, attribute design has been a hot topic across the broader competitive community. Premium pack cards were getting juicy key attributes while program and grindable cards were getting less attractive key attributes - and notably having fluffed up attributes where it didn't matter.
Some recent grindable cards have had this remedied, including the cards featured in the Multiplayer Program currently live. But how will a 95 overall Retro Lightning Sammy Sosa look?

Pretty strong for a grindable card. Hilariously, I was working on this article before SDS revealed the attributes and projected the key attributes based off the previously mentioned Captain card. A bit of an edit was required but still a fun exercise.
I had Sosa projected at something like 105/95/107/100/100 with 60 Speed and 0 Stealing and Baserunning which is pretty close to what the actual card will feature. This gives me confidence in predicting attributes with the True Overall Calculator anytime we're feeling froggy.
I love Sosa and while we'll have to see what other cards are floating around by the time we even unlock him, this card definitely looks like he'll get some time in my outfield.
Stay tuned to ShowZone for full breakdowns of the Twenty In June missions, strategies for efficient grinding, and a deep dive into what makes this Retro Lightning Sosa a powerhouse addition to your team.
