The 2026 Major League Baseball Postseason is underway, so MLB The Show 26's Diamond Dynasty mode will be flooded with new content over the next couple of weeks.
Beginning with the Wild Card Series, The Show appears to be getting Retro programs while the current games play out, followed by the top performers in each series getting their Postseason shine. This post will be updated with each new piece of MLB The Show 26 Postseason content, so bookmark now and stay updated!
2026 Postseason Event Program Breakdown
Build a squad consisting of 2026 Postseason teams, Postseason series, The Show Classics series, Awards series, and Live Series Bronze/Common players to earn progress in the program.
You'll have the ability to earn a couple of Event Rewind packs, which contain rewards from expired Events. You'll also pick up Awards Andy Pettitte and Ivan Rodriguez, respectively.
Pudge has been relatively disappointing for me anytime I've used his cards, but this Awards variant looks like a ton of fun. I've had P5 99 OVR Adley Rutschman behind the dish for a while, and don't really feel the need to replace him. However, Ivan Rodriguez fits right into the 00's/10's era theme my squad has slowly adopted. It might be time to mix up the squad.
Postseason Diamond Quest Breakdown
A new Diamond Quest comes with player rewards for the first time in what feels like forever. You can earn Awards Dennis Eckersley and/or The Show Classics George Springer by completing Moments and Mini-Boss Showdowns, whilst moving across the map to take down the stadium challenges.
Retro Wild Card Program Breakdown
The cards featured in this program are:
- Aaron Bummer, RP ATL (99 OVR The Show Classics)
- Royce Lewis, 3B MIN (99 OVR The Show Classics)
- George Kirby, CP SEA (99 OVR The Show Classics)
- Giancarlo Stanton, RF NYY (99 OVR The Show Classics)
2026 Wild Card Series Program Breakdowns and Results
Series Winner: San Diego Padres 2-0
Series Winner: New York Yankees 2-0
Series Winner: Chicago White Sox 2-0
Series Winner: Atlanta Braves 2-1
Chris Sale was absolutely dominant in this series.
Sale's stat line: 7.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 12 K, 0 HR. ERA 3.52, WHIP 0.78. He recorded the first 19 outs of the series and the last four.
Atlanta's ace starting pitcher becomes the Braves' ace bullpen option, as this Sale variant highlights his dominant 4-0ut closing of the series.
Sale is one of my favorite starting pitchers to use, so I'd much prefer being able to go multiple innings with him. However, Sale in elite-closer form is absolutely nasty. He's tough to hit against because of his release, and elite stuff includes a 100 MPH 4-seamer, the most disgusting slider in the game, and a circle-change/sinker combo with 94+ break each.
Retro Division Series Program Breakdown
The cards featured in this program are:
- Anthony Santander, RF BAL (99 OVR The Show Classics)
- Gleyber Torres, SS NYY (99 OVR The Show Classics)
- Logan Webb, SP SF (99 OVR The Show Classics)
- Rhys Hoskins, 1B PHI (99 OVR The Show Classics)
I always point out the "meme" of Chase pack cards and expensive collections being switch-hitters, so I feel it's only fair to point out when a free switch-hitter that rules is available.
Anthony Santander is an incredible hitter to use in Diamond Dynasty, with a fantastic swing that takes great attributes like this and still over-delivers. Passable in RF, though a bit slow, Santander becomes a great DH candidate or even a reserve bat on the bench.
2026 Division Series Program Breakdowns and Results
Series Winner: Tampa Bay Rays 3-0
Series Winner: Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1
The Atlanta Braves came up short in the playoffs against the L.A. Dodgers, but perhaps made out better than most teams in the Diamond Dynasty theme team department.
While the original Jolt Captains are still mostly unplayable at this point, anyone wanting to flex a Braves theme team gets an outstanding 99 OVR Michael Harris II to add to the squad.
Money Mike falls just outside the top-10 Meta options in CF, but he's still a great overall card. Elite Contact/Clutch attributes with pretty solid Power for an elite defender with speed, Harris II's Postseason variant captures all the best qualities of his natural ability and puts on a fun Diamond Dynasty card.
Series Winner: Milwaukee Brewers 3-1
Series Winner: Cleveland Guardians 3-2
The final series to wrap up before the Championship Series round, the Guardians and White Sox went all the way to a deciding Game 5 that went in Cleveland's favor.
Out of the program cards, the card that I have my eye on the most is Chicago's Colson Montgomery. The young shortstop has a very interesting profile that sounds like the perfect addition to my current squad. I've been kicking tires on different shortstops, as it's one of the few positions I haven't really locked down yet. Colson Montgomery is kinda sick with nearly maxed Power against both sides, and 99 defense at a premium position.
He's a bit slower than I like my middle infielders, and the Contact/Clutch ratings are a bit pedestrian compared to the power, but this dude is absolutely getting some reps. A player that I haven't had a chance to really use, with great attributes and fitting a position of need is pretty exciting this late in the content cycle.
Retro Championship Series Program Breakdown
The next retro program celebrates Championship Series from yesteryear, with a couple of big names getting some late-game 99 OVR variants. This program follows the same design as the other Postseason programs, meaning you'll have to complete all of the Moments and missions to successfully complete the program.
One of the cards I have always looked forward to each content cycle is Justin Verlander's 99 OVR as he's one of my favorite pitchers. Not just what he's done on the mound, but his cards often have my ideal pitch mix with great attributes and stuff to boot.
In what could be Justin Verlander's final 99 OVR we see for a while, we're not getting the absolute best Verlander card but Parallel Mods are the best fix for that. We're getting an Outlier 4-seamer which is a requirement for a Verlander card to make my rotation, but no cutter. Curveballs seem to be more efficient this year than ever before, so the secondary 12-6 curveball might not be a complete waste in the repertoire.
As we inch closer to Finest season, the final touches on my roster are happening with a new starting pitcher and potentially my shortstop.
Championship Series Program Breakdown and Results
Series Winner: Milwaukee Brewers 4-0
The Milwaukee Brewers did the lord's work by sweeping the L.A. Dodgers in the National League Championship series. Notably, the Brewers rallied from behind in each game to complete the sweep.
We'll highlight a couple of relievers that can be earned in the program. We have gotten some tasty 99 OVR variants of Evan Phillips just about every year. This version has the solid pitch mix with 125 Clutch that almost feels like a requirement for new bullpen arms at this point in the year. No Outlier, but the 4-seamer will still hit 100 MPH and the primary sweeper will put many bats to sleep.
The ultimate reward in the program is lefty flamethrower Aaron Ashby. Tantalizing attributes come with an Outlier sinker in the primary pitch spot, with a 4-seamer that should routinely touch 100 MPH alongside a huge 12-6 curveball and slider with 99 Break and a circle change to round out the mix.
Ashby has tremendous stuff and great attributes for a high-leverage reliever. The new #3 Meta Overall closing pitcher can be had simply by completing the free program.
Series Winner: Tampa Bay Rays 4-2
Despite the Rays taking the series, the Guardians get the best cards in this program.
Gavin Williams has quickly become a dominant starter in Major League Baseball. That translates well to Diamond Dynasty, as Williams has an Outlier 4-seamer and devastating Sweeper, setting the pace for his pitch mix. Williams' attributes are utterly insane, and the pitch mix should play well, though I always bemoan the lack of a changeup or splitter.
I had success with Williams earlier in the year, and would happily add this card to my starting rotation.
Jose Ramirez appears in the Postseason content, making one of the most popular players free for everyone. Ramirez has a sweet swing from both sides of the plate, a well-balanced offense, decent third-base defense, and decent speed with 99 Stealing.
J-Ram is one of my favorite players, and anytime we get a free 99 OVR of the future Hall of Famer, I'll be adding him to the squad even if he's only a bench bat for me.
New Show Shop Packs
The latest Chase card is Awards Dick Allen. A pure old-school masher, Allen has max Power against LHP and is 103+ across the offensive spectrum sans the 91 Vision. Allen can play the corner infield spots serviceably, with his strong arm perhaps better suited at his secondary 3B. Allen also carries 88 Speed, which doesn't necessarily make him a stolen base threat, but definitely a net positive offensively, as you're going to rack up extra-base hits with the slugging Hall of Famer.
The newest Headliner is Negro Leagues series, Ted Radcliffe.
Radcliffe is a unique two-way player who can play both pitcher and catcher. The offensive attributes aren't great compared to the rest of the players available. These are comparable to low-90s diamond cards released early in the year.
The pitching is stronger, with a pretty elite pitch mix featuring a 4-seamer that will easily hit 100 MPH. Every pitch has very good Break, and the speed differentials between pitches should make Ratcliffe a tough at-bat if used correctly.
