The latest addition to Storylines: The Negro Leagues features two new legends along with an MLB The Show veteran. Monte Irvin welcomes Biz Mackey and Judy Johnson to MLB The Show 25, as these three legends receive their specially tailored mini-programs within Storylines.
Storylines Negro Leagues Drop 3
The first featured legend is Biz Mackey. This card continues a trend of Negro Leagues stars playing multiple positions, as Mackey plays literally all of them. He won't be able to take the mound for you, but I always find it incredibly fun when cards can play every position on the diamond.
New Legend Spotlight
Negro Leagues C Biz Mackey

This round of Negro Leagues legends gives us our first Diamonds from the Storyline rewards. While none of these cards will hop off the pages attribute wise, it's still very cool that each drop saw an increase in overall power level. Pairing these cards with the Negro Leagues Captain Buck Leonard will boost them even further.
Negro Leagues 3B Judy Johnson

Judy Johnson checks in with a nifty card. Featuring 90+ ratings in Contact and Clutch, Johnson also carries 77 Speed and 78 Reaction to be a very interesting infield piece. Johnson can play all fieldable infield positions, and comes with stock Fielding of 83 which gives him a Gold shield at 3B.
Negro Leagues Collection Impact
For those chasing the Scott Rolen Collection in Diamond Dynasty, this Negro Leagues content drop offers a huge bit of help toward collecting the Negro Leagues series voucher.
Let's check in with our good friend Collection Tracker:

As we can see from the Negro Leagues Collection tab within Collection Tracker, earning the voucher requires collecting 20 Negro Leagues series cards.
Without digging in the game or anywhere else, Collection Tracker also tells us how many cards are purchasable on the marketplace (market cards) and how many cards can be earned for free from playing the game (non-market cards).
Storylines Drop 3 gives us 3 new cards, pushing the number of grindable cards to the point you can now finish the collection without buying cards off the marketplace. Remember that the grindable cards can be found across various modes, so you'll still need to invest some time to earn them. Except now you can grind and not only earn the voucher toward Scott Rolen, but unlock the unbelievably nasty John Donaldson collection reward as well.
Check out ShowZone Pro to add the Collection Tracker and much, much more to your arsenal.
Closing Thoughts
This is something that SDS always does well; making it easier to complete big collections or earn cards over time as new content releases. Those that spend money or invest time in getting it early get amazing cards before many others, while those of us taking a bit longer still get to enjoy the content even if it's been out for a while.
On top of that, getting to experience new stories of legends many haven't heard of is part of the excellence that is Storylines. Weaving fun content into broader content like collections is a true masterclass in content design by SDS and continues the trend of wins that has made up MLB The Show 25's first month.
