How To Complete the Scott Rolen Collection in MLB The Show 25

MLB The Show 25 has introduced its first major Legends and Flashbacks collection featuring 99 Overall Awards Scott Rolen and the card absolutely rules. Unlocking Rolen will require dedication, patience, and some strategic collecting, but for those willing to grind, the reward is one of the best third basemen in the game and most likely a top option all year.

To unlock Rolen, you'll need to collect 18 vouchers from various card series and themed collections. Fortunately, as of release, you can skip one of the currently available collections, offering some flexibility depending on your inventory and resources. Unfortunately, it'll still take a lot of time, grinding, and potentially even Stubs depending on how prepared you were.

Here’s a full step-by-step guide on how to complete the collections to unlock Scott Rolen:

Egg Hunt Collection

• Requirement: Collect 28 Egg Hunt Series cards
• Reward: Unlock Egg Hunt Series Jacob DeGrom, who can be collected toward Rolen.

Tips:

• Remember that you can earn free cards from programs and other offline content. You can earn a free Egg Series Anthony Volpe for completing the Bunny Ears Conquest map. This will save you Stubs if you can't purchase all necessary cards.
• You can unlock additional cards in various themed collections. For example, you unlock 89 overalls of Pete Crow-Armstrong and Ryan McMahon by collecting 7 and 18 Egg Hunt cards respectively.

How To Use ShowZone's Collection Tracker

Once you're officially linked, you'll be able to click into each themed card series to see your current collection progress and even see the required Stubs to unlock the milestone cards.

For example, we know we need Egg Hunt series Jacob DeGrom right now in order to unlock Awards Scott Rolen. By clicking the Egg Hunt tab, I can see exactly how many cards of the series I already own versus the number required.

In the screenshot, you can see the collection milestones along with the current high/low cost of completing each milestone and collection (assuming you have the non-marketplace cards already) and a breakdown of market and non-market cards. Non-market cards are cards you can earn from completing various offline content. Market cards are purchasable on the marketplace.

Negro Leagues Collection

• Requirement: Collect 20 Negro Leagues Series cards
• Reward: Unlock 90 Overall John Donaldson for Rolen progress.

Tip:
Finish the Negro Leagues Storylines to fast-track your Jackie Robinson Day Program completion. It's required if you aren't skipping the Negro Leagues Collection, which isn't advisable as you can earn many of the cards from grinding.

New Threads Collection

• Requirement: Collect 28 New Threads Series cards
• Reward: Unlock Anthony Santander for Rolen progress.

Tips:

• Skip expensive cards like Gold Profar if possible. He's believed to have been removed from packs so the pull-rate is non-existent, driving up the price.
• Focus on buying the cheap golds. Be sure you check the market prices of all available cards and invest your Stubs in cards you'll use on your squad, or focusing on the cheapest cards up to the amount you need.
• Alex Bregman and Aroldis Chapman are sub-series collection rewards that are very good in their own right. Chapman especially will be a bullpen staple for months. As you complete the Rolen Collection over time, prioritize series that have cards that will be usable in the short-term.

Pipeline Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 35 Pipeline Series cards
• Reward: Unlock 88 Overall Roki Sasaki.

Tip:
If you aren't completing the Rolen Collection day-one or even week-one (most of us), be sure to circle back into offline modes like Diamond Quest to earn all the cards possible towards collections like this.

Spring Breakout Collection

• Requirement: Collect 10 Spring Breakout Series cards
• Reward: Unlock Leodalis De Vries.

Tip:
You’ll need to grind the Spring Breakout Showdown multiple times. It’s a simple, repeatable process and worth it for Rolen but still a perhaps tedious process. As of now you can only skip one series, meaning you're choosing spending tons of money and Stubs or grinding a couple Showdowns.

Jolt Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 15 Jolt Series cards

Tip:
This is tied to Team Affinity. New PXP missions have made it easier, so stay active with TA content and be sure to complete each team's Moments. This will require some team-specific grinds to earn progress so take advantage of Double PXP or Double XP periods while working on the Rolen Collection over time.

Contributor Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 28 Contributor Series cards

Tips:

• Includes multiple Live Series collections and a 1st Inning Boss.
• Important Reminder: Big collections like this aren't necessarily designed for immediate completion, which means collections like this one will seem punishing if you're trying to complete it as fast as possible.

Last Ride Collection

• Requirement: Collect 12 Last Ride Series cards

20th Anniversary Collection

• Requirement: Collect 12 20th Anniversary Series cards
• Reward: Unlock 91 Overall Honus Wagner.

Tip:
Wagner was added the same day as the Rolen Collection. Until and unless they add more 20th Anniversary cards, this one will be sneakily expensive.

Rookie Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 10 Rookie Series cards

Tip: You don't' need Fernando Valenzuela to complete this collection. The Dodgers are by far the most expensive Live Series team to complete which is a big deal with respect to this collection.

Breakout Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 7 Breakout Series cards

All-Star Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 31 All-Star Series cards

Tip:
A Rolen and Reds themed program also released that rewards cards that can contribute to these collections. This includes an 87 overall All-Star Scott Rolen that can be earned for free just for completing that program. This gives many the opportunity to use a competitive version of Rolen even if they can't complete the big collection today for the 99 overall version.

Veteran Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 19 Veteran Series cards

2nd Half Heroes Collection

• Requirement: Collect 16 2nd Half Heroes cards

Postseason Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 6 Postseason Series cards

Standout Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 5 Standout Series cards

Spotlight Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 12 Spotlight Series cards

Tip:
You're simultaneously making progress here if you've been working on the Retro Lightning Collection.

Topps Now Collection

• Requirement: Collect 40 Topps Now cards

Cornerstone Series Collection

• Requirement: Collect 6 Cornerstone Series cards

Tip:
These Evolution cards are tied to the XP path. Future Rewind packs or promos should make it easier to catch up if you missed earlier drops.

Awards 3B Scott Rolen (Philadelphia Phillies)

Scott Rolen is a Hall of Famer and perhaps one of the most under-appreciated players of his generation. A fantastic fielder and exceptional batsmen, Rolen is represented by his 2000 Gold Glove season in Philadelphia.

Fittingly, this Awards series Rolen debuts as the #1 3B according to both Meta Overall and True Overall. Elite Contact against both sides and elite Clutch, with exceptional 115 Power against LHP will make Rolen an absolute masher. As a new legend, we'll all learn together how his swing plays but on paper this card is more than worthy of being the first major Legends and Flashbacks collection of MLB The Show 25.

Whether you unlock Rolen soon or it takes a while, he'll almost surely be starter material on your squad.

Collect Your Thoughts

Remember that this is considered a premium Legends and Flashbacks collection. Seeing a new 99 overall added to the game, especially of a brand new legend, generates a ton of excitement. It's incredibly important to remember that you aren't expected or even intended to complete this collection day-one or even week-one.

These sub-collections and big Legends and Flashbacks collections will get easier over time as more cards are added weekly.
