MLB The Show 26 gets a fresh influx of new cards today via the 2026 Topps Update Series Baseball Programs. Inspired real-world designs from 2026 Topps Update, Diamond Dynasty gets a trio of new programs with unique card designs.
Autumn Ascensions Program Breakdown
The first design is the Autumn Ascensions series, which features four players with a fall-themed design. Autumn colors are always pretty, and these are very clean cards that fit right into any insert set.
Amongst the cards in the Autumn Ascensions Program, Julio Rodriguez gets a nifty little 99 OVR. One of the more exciting young players in Major League Baseball, J-Rod is the elder statesman of this grouping. Still only 25 years old, Rodriguez has been in the league for several years now and has already become one of the most exciting players to watch.

Black Gold Program Breakdown
The next featured set is Black Gold.
Black Gold features a design that invokes plenty of memories from childhood, as some of my favorite cards looked like this and some had a peelable label of some sort that protected the card. The Black Gold design is sweet, and our old friend Paul Skenes headlines this program design as the final reward.
This is a serviceable Skenes card by any stretch, but the lack of Outlier on the 4-seamer does sting a bit for higher levels. The pitch mix is there along with the attributes, but I also wonder if Skenes might suffer here. Outlier is a difference maker, and if anything, this type of card is a good test of how much it actually does matter when playing online.

Heavy Lumber Program Breakdown
The final design coming to the Update Series drop is the Heavy Lumber series. Another great design that caps off a fun content drop, the Heavy Lumber program features two Hall of Famers getting 99 OVR cards in Honus Wagner and Tony Gwynn.
Wagner is getting a second 99 OVR in the Heavy Lumber program.

Tony Gwynn also gets a very good variant courtesy of the Heavy Lumber program. This is a "greatest hits" Gwynn design, with max Contact/Clutch attributes and Diamond fielding at his secondaries with a little help from Parallels or Mods.
Special Edition Bobby Witt Jr. Now Seeded Into Show Packs
A bit of a unique wrinkle in today's drop is the addition of a new Bobby Witt Jr. that functions as a Chase card, without being seeded into exclusive Chase packs.
I've been talking about how I'm still looking for my forever shortstop, and SDS keeps pumping out good ones. Bobby Witt Jr. is a bit better than "good" as he debuts as the new #3 Meta Overall shortstop. This card represents Witt's otherworldly talents, with every physical tool represented handsomely.
Not being featured in Chase packs, but instead a "chase card" within the regular set still has Witt Jr. at 1,000,000 Stubs as of publication. I didn't see any stated odds yet, but the cost implies that this card is perhaps more difficult to acquire than Chase cards. Those are only found in exclusive packs that can be obtained in minimal ways.
For a card that is available in Show packs, I'll be very interested to see where the market settles on one of the best shortstops currently available. There's more than 30 packs earnable in this content drop, so you get a head start on trying to pull Bobby Witt Jr. As much as I would love my "endgame" shortstop, if Witt is still 1 Million Stubs and I pull him, it'll be the quickest I have ever sold a fresh pull.
