How To Complete the Prime Series Collection In MLB The Show 25
There's been some variation in how to complete the premium pack collections in MLB The Show 25. Some have featured Mini Seasons and Diamond Quest exclusive cards, while others have had massive packs featuring a ton of cards to collect. The Prime Series collection is a bit more straightforward to complete, and we break it down for you here.
Prime Pack
We took a closer look at each of the currently available Prime packs here, but it's worth noting that this collection cannot (currently) be completed without collecting most of the cards featured in this pack. That doesn't mean you have to purchase them all outright from the marketplace, but you do need them all.
As usual, expect SDS to release more ways to acquire these packs in the future. Additionally, we should see more Prime series cards that will be eligible for the collection as well. As a reminder, here are the cards in the Prime pack that you'll need for the collection:
- Jason Varitek, C, Boston Red Sox (95 OVR)
- Terry Pendleton, 3B, Atlanta Braves (95 OVR)
- Michael Young, SS, Texas Rangers (94 OVR)
- Jim Kaat, SP, Chicago White Sox (94 OVR)
- Tommy Pham, LF, St. Louis Cardinals (94 OVR)
- Luis Aparicio, SS, Baltimore Orioles (92 OVR)
- Bill Mazeroski, 2B, Pittsburgh Pirates (92 OVR)
- Robin Roberts, SP, Philadelphia Phillies (92 OVR)
- Hal Newhouser, SP, Detroit Tigers, (92 OVR)
- Raisel Iglesias, CP, Cincinnati Reds (92 OVR)
Prime Program

As with every premium set released, there's an accompanying program that rewards cards in the series and free packs. The Prime Program can be completed between a selection of eight Moments, several PXP missions involving any Prime cards as well as the program cards, and stat missions again asking you to grind with Prime series cards. There aren't many of those available outside of the program/pack cards right now, which means you're still tackling the program grind with the earnable cards.
If you're planning on completing the overall collection for Lance Berkman, snapping up the 94 overall tier (Kaat, Young, Pham) and the 95 tier (Varitek and Pendleton) will instantly earn you 100 stars and complete the collection. This avoids any CPU-grinding and immediately boosts your collection progress.
Completing the program alone potentially earns 7 Prime cards, with 5 of them earned in the program exclusively and the two Prime packs you get. If you complete the collection by grabbing the more expensive cards from the marketplace, pulling 92 overall cards from the pack won't actually sting as it'll help you complete the collection.
The program exclusive cards are:
- Richie Sexson, 1B, Milwaukee Brewers (95 OVR)
- Salvador Perez, C, Kansas City Royals (94 OVR)
- Charlie Morton, SP, Tampa Bay Rays (93 OVR)
- Mike Cameron, CF, Seattle Mariners (93 OVR)
- Jesse Chavez, RP, Atlanta Braves (92 OVR)
Completing the pack collection (7) completes the program (5) and rewards two Prime packs (2). That's 14 of the required 16 cards for Berkman right there. If you have the AL Central collection done in the Live Series tab, that's 15 of 16 and you unlock Kinsler with 8 Prime cards which gets you to Berkman.
Pro Tip: The new Diamond Quest map features multiple Prime packs in the epic reward tier, offering repeatable chances at the Prime pack for those looking to save Stubs where possible.

Collection Rewards

Prime Ian Kinsler features a well-rounded offensive profile, with a delicate balance favoring Contact and Clutch with some pop to boot. Kinsler will reach Diamond Fielding at Parallel 4 thanks to his stock 86 Fielding, and his 81 Reaction should help him man the keystone very well. With 90 Speed and 72 Stealing, Kinsler can feature at the top of your lineup while providing steady defense. With Bad-Ball and Dead Red Quirks on board, Kinsler lands comfortably as the #2 2B according to True Overall.

Prime Lance Berkman features elite Contact against both sides and Clutch, with elite Power against RHP. He also comes with 86 Vision, meaning he isn't really lacking on the offensive side. A switch-hitter, Berkman matches up well no matter the situation and comes with Dead Red and Breaking Ball Quirks to further punish pitchers.
He's also not an automatic DH. Berkman features 78 Fielding and 75 Reaction at his primary RF with 65 Speed, making him plenty good enough to run in the outfield. He can also play CF and LF, but also features 1B eligibility where he might fit best. Berkman is the #2 1B according to True Overall (and LF) while his primary position and CF sees him at #3. Meta Overall loves him at 1B, where the combination of Contact, Clutch, Power, switch-hitting and respectable Fielding makes him one of the best options at 1B.
Closing Thoughts
The premium collections are always much more expensive when they first launch, and slow-playing can reduce the overall Stub expenditure. That's especially true with the Prime collection for Lance Berkman, as you can play Diamond Quest multiple times to earn free Prime packs in addition to those earned in the Prime Program itself. Whether you're throwing down Stubs to complete as soon as possible, or tackling it in a cheaper fashion - this guide can serve as a baseline for preparation.
Slowly tackling the program takes time, but saves Stubs and prevents you from needing to overspend if you're willing to grind Diamond Quest multiple times in hopes of pulling the more expensive pack cards. Either way, unless you're grinding relentlessly and lucky, you're going to have to spend for Berkman as you typically need to with every collection.
Remember: these collections get cheaper and easier to complete over time. There will be another premium collection faster than you can blink, and getting stuck in the cycle of trying to complete this aggressively can lead to burnout. Pick your path, grind your chosen way, and have fun!
