Team Builder Questions
The best team in MLB The Show 26 depends on your budget and play style, but ShowZone's Top 25 rankings identify the best player at every position by True Overall and Meta Overall. Open Team Builder, click Generate, pick a strategy (Meta Overall is recommended for online play, True Overall for offline), and the optimizer fills every position with the top-rated cards in the game. Click the Generate button at the top of Team Builder to open the Generate Team panel, pick a hitting strategy (Meta Overall, True Overall, or — with ShowZone Pro Gold — Power / Contact / Speed / Fielding), then click Generate Team. The optimizer fills every position with the best-fitting card. You can lock specific slots before generating to keep cards you want to keep, and the panel supports a max team-cost cap if you're building on a budget.
Click Generate at the top of the page to open the Generate Team panel. Pick a hitting strategy and a pitching strategy, set any constraints (minimum left-handed hitters, lefty starters/relievers, max team cost), customize bench preferences (lefty killers, righty killers, speedsters, versatility), then click Generate Team. The optimizer respects locked players and excluded players, runs the strategy across all eligible cards, and returns the best 9-batter lineup plus a starting rotation and bullpen.
ShowZone Pro Gold members can switch the inventory scope in the Generate Team panel from All Cards (default) to Owned Cards or Not Owned. Owned Cards builds the best possible lineup from your synced MLB The Show 26 inventory; Not Owned shows the best players you haven't pulled yet — useful for planning what to chase. The All Cards mode is free for all users.
True Overall is the better baseline for offline modes (Conquest, Mini Seasons, Diamond Quest, Showdowns) — it measures the card's skill ceiling with attributes weighted by gameplay impact. Meta Overall is the better signal for online play (Events, Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale) — it factors in how cards actually perform in the current online meta. Both are available as free strategies in the Generate Team panel. Power, Contact, Speed, and Fielding strategies are Pro Gold-only and focus the optimizer on those specific attributes.
Yes. Save any lineup to your ShowZone account and share it via a unique URL. Saved lineups persist across the site — open them later to update, branch into variations, or copy them to your in-game squad. Shared URLs work for anyone without requiring them to have an account.
Multi-position cards can be placed at any of their eligible positions. The True Overall and Meta Overall ratings update based on the position you put them in — a switch-hitting infielder will have different ratings at SS vs 2B vs 3B because per-position attribute weights differ. The Generate Team optimizer accounts for this when deciding where to slot each card.
Yes. ShowZone Pro members who set mod selections on their cards will see the modded overall and attributes throughout Team Builder. Free users can preview mod effects card-by-card but selections don't persist. Find your best mod per card on the Best Parallel Mods tool at /parallel-mods/best, then apply them in Team Builder to see how your team rating changes.
Yes. Lock any player or pitcher in their slot before clicking Generate Team — the optimizer respects locks and only fills the empty positions. You can also build an Included Players list (with a "must start" flag) and an Excluded Players list to force-include or exclude specific cards from any generated lineup. Useful for building around a favorite captain or a card with a quirk you want to keep.
