With the 2026 Hall of Fame ballot, several major names from the 90's/00's are eligible for the first time. One of those names is Cole Hamels.
Hamels debuted for the Philadelphia Phillies as a 22-year old in 2006, and immediately became one of the top arms in the National League. Hamels compiled seven years of 200+ Innings Pitched within his first 10 MLB seasons, a feat unimaginable today. He also accumulated 42 bWAR in that first decade before being traded to Texas during the 2015 season.
An NLCS MVP and member of the 2008 World Series champions, Hamels pitched four seasons in Texas before moving to the Chicago Cubs in his age 34 and 35 seasons, where he still pitched reasonably well. Hamels finally threw his final MLB pitch as a member of the Atlanta Braves in 2020.
Hamels' career bWAR of 59.0 is right at that magical "cursory threshold" of 60 bWAR that is often used as a measuring stick on who ends up in Cooperstown.
Regardless of Hamels' Hall of Fame fate, here are 10 Cole Hamels cards every collector should own.
