Another Roster Update, another article. After an incredibly successful and profitable article for the last update, I’m back to bring you more of the same. There are a few investments that could make you really good money if bought and sold at the right time!

PLEASE NOTE : This article is based on current player performance, and none of the investments suggested in this article are guaranteed stubs.

Hot Hitters : Highlights

These are the 5 highlighted batters for this week’s article. These are highlighted for their exceptional performances, and are the most likely to go up. I say most likely as in ‘if SDS decides they feel like upgrading them’.

Nico Hoerner : Chicago Cubs

Current Overall : 83

Predicted Overall : 84-85

Recommended Buy Now Price : – 2,000

Nico Hoerner has been a very constant performer in the 2022 season and seems to have found another level of performing. With below average batting attributes and incredible fielding attributes, Hoerner shows a lot of potential to even go diamond this update. There is loads of room for improvement on his card. At a price of -2,000 stubs, Hoerner looks to be a great investment.

  • AB : 53
  • R : 8
  • H : 23
  • HR : 1
  • RBI : 7
  • AVG : .434
  • OBP : .483
  • SLG : .528
  • OPS : 1.011

Wilson Contreras : Chicago Cubs

Current Overall : 84

Predicted Overall : 85+

Recommended Buy Price : -2,300

Wilson Contreras looks to be one of the few 84 rated cards in the game that could be pushing for diamond in the upcoming update, and he has been performing up to that level. With a Sell Now Price of 2,300 stubs, there is loads of room for profit on Contreras. I would advise to sell him if he goes over 3,000 stubs, as his upgrade is never a certainty.

  • AB : 58
  • R : 7
  • H : 17
  • HR : 1
  • RBI : 8
  • AVG: .293
  • OBP : .406
  • SLG : .431
  • OPS : .837

Yandy Diaz : Tampa Bay Rays

Current Overall : 77

Predicted Overall : 78-79

Recommended Buy Price : – 120

Yandy Diaz has been a very consistent hitter for the Rays in the last few weeks, and looks like a great investment. With a very low Sell Now Price, Yandy Diaz should be bought as low as possible and sold in the hype before the update. I’d expect his price to rise to 350-500 stubs, which gives you the ability to almost triple your stubs. A perfect investment for the mass investors or for people looking to try out selling in the hype as a method.

  • AB : 54
  • R : 8
  • H : 17
  • HR : 0
  • RBI : 2
  • AVG : .315
  • OBP : .403
  • SLG : .407
  • OPS : .810

Josh Bell : Washington Nationals

Current Overall : 81

Predicted Overall : 83 – 84

Recommended Buy Price : -1,000

Josh Bell has had an interesting first half of the season. After starting off red-hot, Bell got upgraded to an 84 and showed diamond potential for a while. Then went cold. Now, Bell is hitting better than ever and looks to be in fantastic form. With a slightly inflated Sell Now Price, Bell certainly holds a bit more risk, but I couldn’t ignore the way he’s been performing. Make sure to sell your cards in the hype to guarantee your profit.

  • AB : 53
  • R : 10
  • H : 23
  • HR : 4
  • RBI : 8
  • AVG : .434
  • OBP : .524
  • SLG : .811
  • OPS : 1.335

Austin Riley : Atlanta Braves

Current Overall : 80

Predicted Overall : 81-83

Recommended Buy Price : – 450

Austin Riley has been in great form the last two weeks, and looks like a great investment. With the opportunity of buying him near his Quick Sell value, Riley is a relatively risk-free investment. I’d advise to sell him if his price goes anywhere over 900 stubs, as I think an 82 rated is definitely his ceiling for this update.

  • AB : 54
  • R : 9
  • H : 17
  • HR : 4
  • RBI : 13
  • AVG : .315
  • OBP : .371
  • SLG : .611
  • OPS : .982

Performing Pitchers

Now let’s have a look at pitchers who are due an upgrade. Keep in mind that pitchers only need one bad performance to possibly lose their upgrade, so the risk of investing in pitchers is definitely higher than investing in batters. At the time of writing, most pitchers will have one more appearance before the Roster Update, so keep an eye on them. After some feedback, the stats of last 15 days will be used for the pitchers, similar to the batters.

Dylan Cease : Chicago White Sox

Current Overall : 82

Predicted Overall : 83-84

Recommended Buy Price : -1,300

Dylan Cease has recently been awarded with Pitcher of the Month, and you can see why. Cease has been nothing short of incredible over the last month and looks like a great investment. With an 84 push certainly possible, Cease could see you double your stubs if sold in the hype at the right time. I would advise to sell Cease BEFORE the upgrade.

  • ERA : 1.00
  • R : 2
  • H : 8
  • HR : 2
  • WHIP : 1.00
  • SO : 17
  • IP : 12.0

Emmanuel Clase : Cleveland Guardians

Current Overall : 82

Predicted Overall : 84

Recommended Buy Price : -1,800

After an incredible Edwin Diaz profit last week, another reliever makes his entry in the article, with just as impressive numbers. I don’t see Clase going diamond, and his price is slightly inflated, so I certainly advise selling when you make good profit or when his price is over 2,500-3,000 stubs.

  • ERA : 0.00(!)
  • R : 0
  • H : 7
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.47
  • SO : 16
  • IP : 15.2

Devin Williams : Milwaukee Brewers

Current Overall : 80

Predicted Overall : 81 – 83

Recommended Buy Price : – 500

Devin Williams has been an incredible reliever for the Brewers and has not given up a run in over 21 days now. With already incredibly high H/9 and K/9, Williams needs to start giving up less walks to get bigger upgrades. I definitely advise to sell Williams in the hype.

  • ERA : 0.00(!)
  • R : 0
  • H : 2
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.59
  • SO : 18
  • IP : 13.2

Max Fried : Atlanta Braves

Current Overall : 84

Predicted Overall : 85+

Recommended Buy Price : – 2,200

Max Fried has picked up in form for the Atlanta Braves, which saw him getting upgraded to an 84. With Fried in good form and a relatively low Sell Now Price opportunity of around 2,200 stubs, Fried could definitely be a worthwhile investment. Sell when his price goes over that magic 3,000 mark!

  • ERA : 1.74
  • R : 4
  • H : 16
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 0.92
  • SO : 21
  • IP : 20.2

Kevin Gausman : Toronto Blue Jays

Current Overall : 83

Predicted Overall : 84 – 85

Recommended Buy Price : – 1,200

So Kevin Gausman is a tricky customer. He’s been hit by a line drive in his last time out, but the X-Rays came back negative, and it’s just a bruise. I’m not sure if Gausman will make another appearance before the update, but he’s been incredible since the last one, and this injury brought his price down to Quick Sell value. I think Gausman could be an incredible investment, and basically holds no risk.

  • ERA : 1.20
  • R : 2
  • H : 15
  • HR : 0
  • WHIP : 1.33
  • SO : 20
  • IP : 15.0

Honorable Mentions : Batters

These players will still be great investments, but hold slightly higher risk. I will add the most crucial stats in the following order : BA / OBP / SLG / Current OVR / Predicted OVR / Recommended Buy Price. This will give everyone a bigger pool of investments to pick from!

Honorable Mentions : Pitchers

The same will be done for pitchers. These hold even higher risk as they are (lower level) pitchers who are performing well. Obviously, because of the risk connected to these investments, there is a bigger profit to be made if you pick the right investment. Stats will be in the following order : IP / ERA / WHIP / Current OVR / Predicted OVR / Recommended Buy Price

Sell tip : Sell all of your investments in the hype if they aren’t going diamond. Most of these players will be dumped after the Roster Update and decrease in price. Sell time can decide if you make profit or not!

High Tier Investments

This article will have one High Tier Investment, and he made an entry before. Keep in mind that these players definitely hold higher risk but also show greater profit margins!

Corbin Burnes : Milwaukee Brewers

Current Overall : 90

Predicted Overall : 91

Recommended Buy Price : – 34,000

Corbin Burnes has been great for the Brewers and looks like he could get a +1. His teammate Josh Hader got a +1 and flew up in price, and I definitely see room for profit on Corbin Burnes. He got a slight upgrade in the last Roster Update, and is probably very close to being a 91 already. Burnes is pitching at least one more time, so keep an eye on his performance. He probably won’t go down in price, even if he doesn’t perform great in his next outing.

  • ERA : 1.74
  • R : 4
  • H : 8
  • HR : 2
  • WHIP : 0.77
  • SO : 24
  • IP : 20.2

This is it for this week’s investment update. Let’s hope these players keep performing the way they have. For any questions, make sure to reach out to us on Twitter @mlbtheshowzone or @LouisAnalysis.
