Battle Royale players get a refreshed Flawless Choice Pack today, featuring new Standout and Awards series cards. Flawless packs are earned by going 10-0 in a single Battle Royale run.
Let's take a look at the rewards.
Standout 2B Luis Rengifo (Los Angeles Angels) - #2 2B True Overall
Standout Luis Rengifo debuts as the #2 2B in Diamond Dynasty according to True Overall for good reason. Nearly max Contact against LHP with solid attributes across the remaining offensive spread, Rengifo also comes with switch-hitting capabilities. Rengifo also possesses Dead Red, arguably the best offensive Quirk that provides a hitting boost against Fastballs.
Defensively, 62 Fielding isn't great but is probably ok at 2B with a strong enough arm to make up for the lack of range. The real test will be the 63 Reaction at the keystone, paired with 61 Speed.
Rengifo also boasts exceptional flexibility, as he can also play 3B, SS, LF, and RF.
This is an interesting example of a card that isn't truly elite outside of the Contact against LHP, but highlights the importance of positional flexibility this year on a switch-hitter.
Awards CP Dennis Eckersley (Parts Unknown Athletics) - #1 CP True Overall
The other new reward is Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley. Eck's Awards series card debuts as the #1 CP in Diamond Dynasty according to True Overall. Known for his insane Slider (99 Control, 95 Break) Eck also brings a Sinker, 4-Seamer, and Curveball to the mix. With exceptional Control on each pitch, Eck will be painting corners and hitting spots with ease.
Not only that, but his on-card attributes are phenomenal.
100 H/9, 100 K/9, 101 BB/9, and 95 Clutch certainly add up to a top-tier closer. Ideally, the Clutch is higher (and possibly the highest attribute on a Closer) but 95 still gets to 100 with a P5 grind. Beyond that, Eck has a bit of a funky delivery and throws hard enough that you can keep hitters off-balance when attacking effectively with the Slider, Sinker, 4-Seam trinity.
