All-Star C Mike Piazza (Los Angeles Dodgers) - #2 Catcher True Overall

Now this is pod racing.
It's incredibly difficult to find faults with this 92 overall Mike Piazza. Elite Contact against both sides with 110 Clutch, and 103/92 Power against LHP/RHP respectively looks good on any card. But for a primary Catcher it's incredible, especially at this point in the year.
We know Piazza doesn't typically get strong Fielding, but even this card fares better than I'd expect with the hitting attributes this card has. 70 Fielding, Arm Strength, and Blocking isn't going to compete with top-tier defenders; but it's going to make Piazza feel much more playable.
Card design has been in the limelight recently, as it's been pretty clear how overalls have been "manipulated" as inconsequential attributes are boosted, while the "important" ones are perhaps stifled. Only for cards released in premium packs to have a more balanced or powerful design.
This Mike Piazza certainly looks like a response from SDS to the community. If cards moving forward are built ignoring attributes like Drag Bunt, Stealing, or Baserunning Aggressiveness in favor of the relevant hitting attributes - then the power creep is going to look very different.
Piazza debuts as the second best Catcher according to True Overall, marginally below Retro Lightning Carlos Santana.
Piazza doesn't have the switch-hitting capabilities, secondary positions, or the same swing as Santana; but it's worth pointing out that there's an on-paper comparable to one of the most expensive cards in the game.
Are you playing online to grind toward Piazza? Will he start on your squad? Let us know!
