The Moonshot Program has officially landed, bringing with it a storm of dingers, Diamonds, and star-stacked rewards. The program requires 100 stars to complete and offers multiple paths to max rewards, whether you're grinding offline, tackling online Events, or collecting your way through the cosmos.
The 10-Star Moment
It all begins with a single Moment worth 10 stars, instantly unlocking five Common Moonshot pitchers:
- Josh Hader
- Corey Kluber
- Jose Alvarado
- Cliff Lee
- Jhoan Duran
These cards are essential for the program and collection missions ahead.
PXP Grinds (45 Stars)

Earn 5 stars each by tallying 150 PXP with each of the program’s pitchers listed above. That’s 25 stars from arms alone.
Then hit the field with Moonshot hitters:
- Jose Siri
- Josh Smith
- Luis Arraez
- Roberto Clemente
Each earns you 5 more stars with 150 PXP. That’s another 20 stars, totaling 45 stars from program-exclusive PXP missions.
HR Heaven (50 Stars)
These missions celebrate the Moonshot spirit—mashing taters. Each is worth 5 stars, totaling 50 from long ball greatness.
Hit HRs with:
- Moonshot Series cards
- Low-speed (< 40) players
- High-speed (> 80) players
- Low-fielding (< 65) players
- High-fielding (> 85) players
- 10 HR with righty, lefty, and switch hitters
You can knock these out quickly vs CPU teams at high elevations, a true Diamond Dynasty past time.
Online Grind Path (45 Stars)
Prefer real players over CPU grinding? Dive into the Moonshot Event. There are nine total missions to complete, calling for you to hit up to 20 HRs, up to 5 HRs with Moonshot series cards, and tallying up to 20 IP with the Moonshot series pitchers.
That’s another 45 stars up for grabs for the online crowd that should come fairly easy given the Event requirements.
The event runs until May 27, giving plenty of time to grind the Event portion of the program.
Collection (Up to 100 Stars)
Prefer collecting to grinding?
- Collect all six 89 OVR Moonshot pack cards = 30 stars
- Collect all four 91 OVR Moonshot pack cards = 70 stars
That’s a whopping 100 stars without playing a game. Do this, and you’ll instantly unlock the program rewards. There's also the juicy new Byron Buxton that requires collecting all of these cards anyway, so getting this program completed after shelling out those Stubs is a nice bonus.
Rewards Breakdown
- 35,000 XP
- 4 Show Packs
- 750 Stubs
- 10 Moonshot Cards, including stars like Roberto Clemente and Brian Roberts
- 1 Full Moon Pack & 1 Eclipse Pack
Moonshot RF Roberto Clemente (Pittsburgh Pirates) - #20 RF True Overall

As far as lower-rated Clemente Diamonds, this is a pretty rockin' version of the legend. The overall theme of Moonshot follows what we've seen from Home Run Derby cards, where the featured players see a boost to Power and other offensive attributes by sacrificing Fielding and Speed.
Part of Clemente's elite game is the top-level Defense and cannon arm, which are a bit lower here with 78 Fielding, 86 Arm Strength, and 52 Speed. This won't be the same well-rounded version of Clemente we're used to seeing, but the offensive profile is quite good and provides a fun, unique version of the Hall of Famer.
Moonshot 2B Brian Roberts (Baltimore Orioles) - #5 2B True Overall

Following the same concept, Brian Roberts gets a nasty-powerful card from an offensive standpoint and gets the same degradation to Fielding and Speed. While Roberts is usually known for his 90+ Speed and Stealing, the Moonshot version sees Roberts at a still-solid 78 Speed but with only 21 Stealing. The Fielding is also relegated to Silver Shield as Roberts features 74 Fielding and 78 Reaction.
But who cares. This is a switch-hitting 2B with 88+ Contact/Clutch and 90+ Power against both sides, and Roberts has a great swing.
Closing Thoughts
The Moonshot Program features a unique card series, showcasing players that might not typically have high Power or offensive attributes in general. These are very fun variants of Diamond Dynasty mainstays mixed with new names. SDS has been getting criticized lately as all the "best" cards have been hidden behind packs and paywalls.
The Moonshot Program reverses that to a degree, offering up a ton of new cards that are at least more offensively powerful than cards have been. There's a clear sacrifice of defense and speed, but having the option to build squads in unique ways is part of the fun.
