The first Spotlight program of July is here, and MLB The Show 25 continues the ongoing theme we've seen all year. July Spotlight Drop 1 brings a familiar structure with some added value—especially if you’ve already completed June’s program.
With Double XP and PXP active until July 25, now’s the perfect time to stack progress across every mode.
Spotlight Drop 1 Overview
The core of this program is familiar:
- Moments: Quick missions spotlighting the week’s top MLB performances
- Stat Missions: Hit HRs, rack up Total Bases, log innings and hits with specific card types
- Card Usage Missions: Using players from this week’s Topps Now and Spotlight packs earns you major progress
- Collection: Turn in select cards to get a fast start toward the 50-star reward
The goal: reach 50 Stars and unlock the first July Spotlight reward—97 Overall Addison Barger.
Returning Player Missions – Extra Value for June Grinders
This program includes two key bonus missions featuring:
- Jo Adell
- Juan Soto
Both cards were rewards in June’s Spotlight program. If you earned them, you’re rewarded again—each card has a mission worth 4 Stars, giving you a total of 8 easy Stars just for playing with your existing lineup.
If you didn’t finish June, this is your incentive to not skip another month. It's a very helpful boost if you're grinding this program the old fashioned way.
Collection Requirements

As usual, card collection gives you a huge boost early on:
- Collect all Topps Now cards from the July Week 1 Pack – 15 Stars
- Collect all 97 Spotlight cards from the July Week 1 Pack – 35 Stars
Week 1's pack features:
- Brandon Woodruff, SP, Milwaukee Brewers (97 OVR) - #10 SP True Overall
- Willy Adames, SS, San Francisco Giants (97 OVR) - #4 SS True Overall
- Teoscar Hernández, RF, Los Angeles Dodgers (95 OVR)
- Matt Shaw, 3B, Chicago Cubs (95 OVR)
- Colby Thomas, RF, Athletics (95 OVR)
That’s 50 Stars total just by collecting the cards—meaning you can technically skip the grind if you’re investing in the Spotlight Pack (25k Stubs) and complete the program on day one.
Pro Tip: Even if you don’t want to spend Stubs, grabbing the pack helps you tackle multiple missions and feeds the longer-term Spotlight collection that continues evolving across the month.
Spotlight Reward – 97 Spotlight RF Addison Barger - #15 RF True Overall; #9 3B True Overall

Final Thoughts
With Double XP and PXP live through July 25, knocking out the Spotlight content as it rolls out will greatly help in the final push for the July Lightning player in a couple of weeks. There's going to be a ton of content coming in the next week with All-Star festivities, so Spotlight and other programs can fall through the cracks.
Remember that you'll be making a ton of progress just by playing the game, as you accrue stats and PXP across different programs. Taking a focused approach can maximize your progress and save you time!
