It’s that time of year. For the sadistic amongst us, the Extreme Program in MLB The Show always brings immensely challenging tasks that reward some of the nastiest cards seen in a game cycle. This year is no different, and there’s a slew of controller breaking content to wade through for those brave enough.
Extreme Moments (4 Stars Each)
These are mostly on Hall of Fame, with some on Legend that are notated in the list.
- Hit for the cycle with Byron Buxton
- 4 HR in one game with Nick Kurtz
- 9 IP, 7 K, 1 HR, 0 R with Clayton Kershaw
- 2 triples with Corbin Carroll
- Perfect game + 13 K with Randy Johnson
- Down 9 runs, win with the Rockies on Legend
- Score 7 runs in one inning with the Diamondbacks on Legend
- Steal 5 bases with Tony Gwynn
- Score 20 runs with the Blue Jays on Legend
- Strike out 3 straight using only sliders with Mason Miller
Repeatable PXP Mission
- Tally 40,000 PXP across Diamond Dynasty — 5 stars
This is a passive grind that rewards consistent play. It’s repeatable, so you’ll slowly build up stars just by playing. This is probably more beneficial for those that can't just rip through the program and have to work on it over time.
Extreme Diamond Quest Collection

- Collect Awards Kenley Jansen and Milestone Carlos Santana — 30 stars

Milestone Carlos Santana debuts as the #2 Catcher in Meta Overall, #1 1B.
Both cards are earned by completing the Extreme Diamond Quest map and cannot be bought or sold on the Marketplace. That means if you want these stars, you’ll have to complete the map and claim both rewards yourself.
Extreme Event Missions
A new Extreme-themed event is live:
- REPEATABLE: Win 2 games — 1 star
- Win 5 games — 5 stars
- Win 10 games — 5 stars
Prepare for sweaty lobbies. This will be a quick path for a lot of players, so games will probably feel like Weekend Classic games.
Extreme Showdown

Face off against 9 mini-bosses before taking on Milestone Roger Clemens. You’ll start on All-Star, but things ramp up quickly. This one’s worth a massive 30 stars.
Extreme Conquest

Complete the Conquest map and meet ALL goal requirements to earn 30 stars. You must:
- Capture the AL and NL East strongholds on Turn 1
- Capture the NL Central strongholds on or before Turn 2
- Capture the NL West strongholds on or before Turn 3
- Capture the AL Central strongholds on or before Turn 4
- Capture the AL West strongholds on or before Turn 5
- Own 30 Million fans (You begin with 15 Million) Capture all strongholds Capture all territories (conquer the entire map)
This is the ultimate test of strategy and planning. You may need multiple runs, and that's doable as you can reset the map after completing goals and begin again. You have different routes you can take depending on your skill level and confidence. If you're capable of plowing through the CPU, then going around the horn will be more of a time grind than challenge.
Conquest Rewards
- 10,000 XP
- HRDX and Moonshot 2.0 Choice Packs
- Ballin’, Premier, and Ultra Packs
Final Rewards
Grind out the program and you’ll earn:
- 2x Premier Choice Packs
- 3x Ultra Choice Packs
- Custom icons and sound effects
- Milestone: Byron Buxton, Roger Clemens, Elly De La Cruz
As you'd expect, the rewards for completing the Extreme Program are insanely, insanely good. Like, diabolically disgustingly good. As they should be, because completing this program takes skill, patience, time, and an indescribable amount of black magic.
Byron Buxton debuts as the #1 CF according to Meta Overall. Roger Clemens is the #2 SP in Meta Overall. And Elly De La Cruz is so difficult to unlock, he isn't even populated in the database yet. I would be shocked if he isn't the top SS, and at worst he has to be in the top-5 Meta Overall standings.
We're in the prime season of 99 overall cards, and Extreme rewards are some of the very best cards we'll see all year. Once the Postseason content concludes, and Finest helps drop the curtain on MLB The Show 25, these Extreme rewards should still stand at the top of their respective positions.
For those still grinding Diamond Dynasty regularly, these are the endgame juggernauts you dream about all year and they're finally here. You're just going to have to grind like hell to get them.
