June 2nd marks Lou Gehrig Day across Major League Baseball, and MLB The Show 25 celebrates the legacy of the Iron Horse with a dedicated in-game program. This year’s Lou Gehrig Day Program offers a mix of Moments, grindable missions, and a handful of themed content honoring one of the game’s greatest sluggers.
Program Overview
The Lou Gehrig Day Program requires 40 stars to complete, and the layout is simple and should be a quick completion for many.
Moments (20 Stars Total)
There are four Moments, each worth 5 stars, showcasing some of Gehrig’s career highlights. These short Moments should be a relative breeze and easily get you to halfway completion of the program.
Grindable Missions (20 Stars)
To finish the other half of the program, you’ll need to hit the field with first basemen and Yankees players. Here’s the breakdown on the tasks that are worth 5 stars each:
- Tally 10 Hits with 1B
- Tally 4 Extra-Base Hits with 1B
- Tally 4 Extra-Base Hits with Yankees
- Tally 400 PXP with Yankees
Pro Tip: These missions require players who have 1B as their primary position. However, you can build your squad with primary first baseman at their secondary positions to speed up the grind. Cycle through your lineup and filter strategically to maximize efficiency.
Program Rewards
As you make progress, you'll unlock a variety of rewards that honor Lou Gehrig and bolster your squad:
- 16,000 XP (total)
- 250 Stubs
- 2 Show Packs
- Lou Gehrig Day Bat Skin
Contributor 1B Lou Gehrig - #8 1B True Overall, #7 1B Meta Overall

It'll be easy to turn-nose at this card as it doesn't have sexy attributes that some recent 92 overall and up cards have had. We discussed the "fluff" attributes recently, and this Gehrig definitely has some juice tied up in the Discipline and Durability attributes.
Still, this is a free card that goes into collections and celebrates one of the most legendary names in the game. The overall grind not requiring a huge time investment is a plus.
Pinstripes Maps: Diamond Quest & Conquest
In addition to the program, The Show introduces two brand-new maps themed around pinstripes that are certainly on-brand for Lou Gehrig Day:
Diamond Quest – Pinstripes Map

This Diamond Quest map features four new cards:
- Rare Choice Rewards:
- 90 OVR Topps Now Justin Steele
- 90 OVR Topps Now Brandon Nimmo
- Guaranteed Rewards:
- 92 OVR All-Star Jim Thome
- 92 OVR Postseason Whitey Ford
Conquest – Pinstripes Map

The Pinstripes Conquest map is a compact, straightforward grind with just four strongholds to capture. It requires no gimmicks or hidden challenges—just conquer and collect.
- Completion Reward: Deluxe Choice Pack
- Bonus XP: 4,500 XP
Closing Thoughts
The Lou Gehrig Day Program is a touching tribute to a true baseball icon, offering both casual and competitive players an opportunity to unlock rewards while revisiting Gehrig’s greatness. With a mix of Moments, simple missions, and easy-to-attain rewards, it’s one of the most accessible and heartfelt programs in MLB The Show 25.
It's also a good time as a community to remember that not every single piece of content needs to have "endgame" ramifications. Sometimes, getting a chance to play this game with a breezy program and earn free cards and packs is a good break from the "competitive" side of things
