MLB The Show 25 is once again honoring the legacy of 42 with a jam-packed Jackie Robinson Day content drop that continues to shine a light on the heroes of the Negro Leagues. San Diego Studio isn’t just celebrating a legend — they’re elevating his story and those who paved the way alongside him.
Storylines Season 3: Negro Leagues Drop 2
Drop 2 of Storylines Season 3 brings us two new 84 overall Negro Leagues legends:
- Leroy Matlock – A dominant lefty with pinpoint command
- Oscar Charleston – One of the greatest all-around players in baseball history
Finishing both Drops 1 and 2 gives you 50 program stars toward the Jackie Robinson Day Program by collecting all the Storylines cards.
Jackie Robinson Day Program Highlights
The Jackie-headed program also rewards players with four other Negro Leagues legends.
You can knock out 42 program stars just by completing 4 Moments (nice touch, SDS), plus there are 7 PXP missions using Negro Leagues cards up through Foster. Overall, this program won't take long at all and SDS themselves suggested it could be 30-45 minutes to fully complete the content.
Showdown and Choice Pack Rewards
A special Jackie Robinson Day Showdown pays 20 stars and breaks from tradition: Mini-Boss failures don’t end your run, giving more flexibility and less stress. You still have to make Cody Rhodes proud and defeat the Final boss in order to successfully complete the Showdown. Still, this makes Showdown even more attractive because nothing can lead to a shattered controller quicker than failing the next-to-last Mini Boss. Completing this Showdown also earns a Negro Leagues Choice Pack where you can select from:
- Toni Stone
- Buck O’Neil
- Jose Mendez
- Bill Foster
Each completion earns 2 cards, and the pack can be completed twice.
Conquest Map: Hilton Smith Unlock
There's also a Jackie Robinson 42 Conquest map that rewards Hilton Smith upon full completion.
Jackie Robinson's bravery forever changed the sport of baseball and the world. By featuring Storylines and commemorative content, MLB The Show keeps that story alive for a new generation and keeping the flame of knowledge lit. This is a huge drop of content that provides a handful of pretty good cards, all earnable simply by playing the game.
There will also be a special Jackie Robinson Foundation Charity Pack live in the Show Shop. This pack costs $4.99 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Jackie Robinson Foundation. The pack contains 5,000 Stubs and an assortment of Diamond equipment items and profile icons.
