The grind continues in MLB The Show 25 as the 2nd Inning Program introduces a stacked trio of 90 OVR Bosses — each offering a unique path to improving your Diamond Dynasty squad. With the first Boss Choice Pack earned at 320,000 XP and a second one at 500,000 XP, this program mirrors the 1st Inning by allowing you two of the three just for playing.
Let’s break down your options and how they might fit your team’s needs.
Standout SP Bob Gibson (St. Louis Cardinals)

Bob Gibson continues his reign as a rotation anchor in Diamond Dynasty. This 90 Overall version throws absolute gas with elite heat and movement, making him a certifiable Ace in most rotations. With the current pool of live series and mid-tier arms, this Gibson card should instantly slot into the top of most rotations. Over the last few years, Gibson has been one of the preeminent arms in Diamond Dynasty and this card should be no different.
True Overall: 90.16 - #5 SP
Meta Overall: 80.74 - #4 SP
Negro Leagues Series C Josh Gibson

Josh Gibson brings monster offensive potential with new defensive flexibility that's perfectly suited for MLB The Show 25’s reset of secondary positions. Whether you need him behind the plate, at third, or covering first base duties, he’s an elite bat that adds depth and power to any lineup. Don't have enough OF for some reason? Gibson can play literally every spot. In fact, he can play every position in the field except for 2B and SS. Despite being historically known for his massive power, this Gibson actually turns into quite the Swiss-army utility card that can at minimum hang out on your bench.
True Overall: 89.55 - #2 Catcher
Meta Overall: 85.38 - #3 Catcher
All-Star CF Ken Griffey Jr. (Seattle Mariners)

Ken Griffey Jr. is a certified fan-favorite, and seeing him as a grindable boss this early in the season is a gift. His silky-smooth swing, strong fielding, and power from the left side make him an early-meta nightmare. Personally, my squad has been tilted a little too righty-heavy, so this Griffey is looking like my pick to restore order in the outfield and inject some lefty thunder into the heart of the lineup.

Papadell's Picks
This really is tough. Obviously, there's a sizable gap between earning the first boss and the second and your squad can have a completely different look by the time you hit the second. Despite that, I find myself really looking at Griffey and Bob for my first pick.
I love Bob Gibson cards and he's absolutely one of the SP I look forward to using every year. But I also like my rotation as is, and would have to ponder who I cut from the rotation to add him now.
Conversely, I've been lamenting the lack of preferred balance in my lineup. I'm a little too RH for my liking, as I've been focusing on trying to maintain palatable fielding. The Kid gives me the best of all worlds, and it'll be much easier to decide who to cut from the starting lineup.
So as of now: I'm taking Griffey first and Bob second. I always buy all three Bosses so Mr. Josh Gibson won't be too far behind, but I'm loving Dalton Rushing and don't need to change that up anytime soon.
Closing Thoughts
Three legit legend Bosses to choose from, only so much time. Bob Gibson is always an Ace, Josh Gibson is one of the most unique utility players we'll see, and Griffey Jr. this early in the season rounds out an amazing 2nd Inning Boss Choice Pack.
