MLB The Show 24, MLB The Show News

Last week’s feature premiere centered around Storylines: Negro Leagues Season 2. The second feature premiere was still focused on Storylines, but on a whole new subject – Derek Jeter.

In addition to Storylines: Negro Leagues Season 2, we’ll be getting the same narrative-focused design while playing through Derek Jeter’s storied career.

Let’s talk about it.

MLB The Show 24 – Storylines Derek Jeter

Content

At launch, players will be treated to a tailored experience covering 1995-2000 from Jeter’s perspective. Starting with The Captain’s debut, players will engage in Moments highlighting some of Jeter’s most memorable performances.

This will also include defensive Moments along with the requisite offensive Moments.

A few weeks after launch, we’ll see content featuring 2001-2014 dropped in a staggered release. This final stretch will cover the 2001 season all the way up to Jeter’s final game.

It sounds like players will be able to unlock all kinds of goodies for playing through Storylines: Derek Jeter. We unlocked some really cool cards in Diamond Dynasty by completing the Negro Leagues Storylines in MLB The Show 23. We’ll have to wait and see if there’s anything special cooked up for Storylines: Derek Jeter.

The Core Four

We got what amounted to our first legend reveal outside of Storylines: Negro Leagues. Derek Jeter was obviously Captain of the Yankees, but there were some key players on those Yankees teams to help solidify the dynasty. Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada are two existing legends we’ve seen in MLB The Show, but those three will now be joined by Andy Pettitte to complete the Core Four.

Pettitte is being joined by Paul O’Neill and Bernie Williams as two important Yankees players that will appear in Storylines: Derek Jeter. Their inclusion as new legends not only adds depth to the Storylines mode, but will give Diamond Dynasty players some fun new legends to squad up with.

The Kingdome

In addition to the new legends, we also learned that we’ll be getting a new classic stadium – Seattle’s Kingdome.

Home to the Seattle Mariners, The Kingdome has long been extinct but is being resurrected in MLB The Show 24. It’s a very rare treat seeing new stadiums added to MLB The Show, which makes the Kingdome’s return all the more surprising. MLB and classic stadiums often have framerate issues online, but if the stability is on point – I’ll be playing most of my home DD games at the Kingdome this year.

The Closer

Storylines: Derek Jeter will be another documentary style narrative in MLB The Show. Negro Leagues Season 1 was an amazing experience and we already have Season 2 to look forward to. Getting a similar deep-dive into one of baseball’s most iconic players will surely bring the same fun-factor. A new, refreshing UI design was shown off which really pops and truly looks unique to The Show. Menus and UI change every year, but often there’s still a level of “sameness” to them. The new UI definitely has a Madden vibe to it, but it looks modern and clean. The nature of this Storyline brings us Andy Pettitte and Bernie Williams, two iconic Yankees players without whom every All-Time Yankees team felt a bit empty. Not to mention the surprise inclusion of Seattle’s Kingdome.

More content is always better and Storylines: Derek Jeter is shaping up to be another great addition to MLB The Show 24.

MLB The Show 24 will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on March 19. Available for pre-order now. Select pre-orders include Early Access beginning on March 15.
