Battle Royale 3 is here and some big name 99 overalls join the chat.

Honus Wagner is one of the most popular cards in Diamond Dynasty history. He gets a Milestone card in this drop while Johnny Cueto gets a Hyper Series variant.

Let’s take a look.

SS Milestone Honus Wagner (Pittsburgh Pirates) – Meta Overall: 102.95; #1 2B

Honus Wagner gets the greatest hits here with 110+ Contact against both sides and 80+ Power against both sides. Max Speed, Diamond Fielding at every position with Parallel 5 and some decent Quirks are what we expect from top-flight Honus cards. Interestingly, this Milestone Wagner highlights his 500+ Stolen Bases. Wagner previously had a Milestone card in MLB The Show 22 that rated out higher than this version. The Wagner from ’22 highlighted his 3,000+ Hits which gave him max Contact with 97 Speed. This isn’t a nitpick as much as an observation.

Nonetheless, any Milestone Honus Wagner will always be an incredible card. Despite being a SS, this card actually rates out as the current #1 2B in the entire game. Wagner gets his usual flexibility outside of Pitcher and Catcher which should make him usable on pretty much every team configuration.

That’s big value.

SP Hyper Series Johnny Cueto (Cincinnati Reds) – Meta Overall: 98.64; #5 SP

Joining Honus in the Battle Royale 3 Flawless Choice Pack is Johnny Cueto. The funky-throwing RHP hits Diamond Dynasty as a Top 5 SP on debut. Cueto is always one of those cards that can truly excel on Hall of Fame or higher in the hands of a skilled player.

Possessing the arguable perfect pitch-mix, Cueto brings elite Control with good velocity and really good Break across the board. His 108 H/9 is much appreciated to help offset the lack of Outlier and should induce a lot of weak contact in combination with his Break ratings.

Additionally, Cueto features 125 Clutch which is insane for a SP. That means Cueto is even better with runners in scoring position and can potentially help bail you out in tough spots.

Papadell’s Pick

This one is quite tough for me on paper. In terms of building a true “God Squad,” I don’t think this is a straightforward choice. Wagner is insane every year and Cueto is the type of pitcher I love taking online. I also haven’t been using a traditional God Squad this year as I’ve been having a ton of fun with Captain builds. I’m still rocking a Tier 3 Buxton/Tier 3 Matzek build where I’m blending the Buxton/Braves theme teams. That means I have to be very picky with roster changes. For that reason alone, Johnny Cueto would be my pick as I can slot him into my rotation easier without having to completely break up my build.

Who are you choosing and why? Are you excited that 99 overalls are finally hitting Diamond Dynasty? Let us know in the comments!
