The final Spotlight program of the year is here, a bittersweet reminder that time is a flat circle and we are all creatures of habit, living an unexplainable and indefinable fleeting existence that yet feels eternal.

Regular Season Finale Event Program Breakdown

The new Event will help considerably with completing the September collection if you're into that sort of thing. Also a great way to rack up PXP and stats for any lingering missions you have. I'll be jumping in to finish off everything I've fallen behind on, and looking forward to it this weekend!
September Spotlight Drop 4 Program Breakdown
The final Spotlight drop of the regular season wraps up a year of Spotlight breakdowns! The Spotlight/Topps Now content was the best it's ever been, and there were plenty of fun cards from the series this year.
September's final featured Spotlight player is Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers.
This card is fun in that it's kinda the opposite of what we usually get. Greene is a lefty that absolutely decimates lefties and is notably weaker against RHP. Reverse-splits like this on a lefty masher is a big deal, as lefty-on-lefty matchups are universally tougher for many players. Greene's 123 Clutch keeps him violently effective against same-handed pitchers, and the 88 Power against righties isn't deal-breaking.
Defensively, you'll get a Silver Shield in Greene's primary LF and maintain it when played in his sole secondary at CF. Greene might be my ideal example of what an "average" fielder looks like in Diamond Dynasty when 99 OVRS are the norm. He has great reaction times across the board, except to his left. How ironic! His 63 Speed isn't sexy, but it works in the corner with his reaction times. The arm is fairly weak and will need serious momentum towards the target to nail speedy runners.
It also gets boring to point out that you're much better off with one of the infinite other 99 OVR cards that have 90+ Fielding and Speed. This Greene almost feels like a throwback to the 90's/00's boppers that played the corner OF, never did anything of note defensively, but just hit moonshots year after year, and we loved them for it.
So, Spotlight Riley Greene is a fun card in my book.
The cards featured in this week's Spotlight Program are:
- Riley Greene, LF DET (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Christian Encarnacion, 3B BAL (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Griffin Conine, RF MIA (99 OVR Spotlight)
- A.J. Ewing, CF NYM (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Connor Prielipp, SP MIN (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Seranthony Dominguez, RP SEA (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Jedixson Paez, RP BOS (97 OVR Topps Now)
- Bo Davidson, RF SF (97 OVR Topps Now)
September Spotlight Drop 4 Pack Breakdown
The cards featured in this week's Spotlight pack are:
- Eugenio Suarez, 3B CIN (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Spencer Torkelson, 1B DET (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Dominic Canzone, RF SEA (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Jakob Marsee, CF MIA (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Reid Detmers, SP LAA (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Vinnie Pasquantino, 1B KC (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Nate Lavender, RP NYM (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Brandyn Garcia, RP AZ (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Trevor Rogers, SP BAL (99 OVR Spotlight)
- Rafael Flores, C PIT (99 OVR Spotlight)
Spencer Torkelson has a great baseball name, and also happens to have reverse splits. Sorta nifty to have some legitimate reverse-split platoon options, especially when the collection is another switch-hitter. Variety is variety!
September Spotlight Lightning 99 OVR C Carter Jensen (Kansas City Royals)
Carter Jensen takes home September Lightning honors after receiving a 96 Spotlight card back in June. Wrapping up a solid 4.4 fWAR 2026 campaign, Jensen crushes lefties and righties equally with 125 Clutch and elite Power. He's a solid defensive Catcher, not spectacular, which I can handle as he possesses above-average Speed at the position with 71.
Rate-wise, he's still landing as a top-5 Meta option at the position, and remember that he's free upon completing all of September's Spotlight programs, or you can pay Stubs to knock out those collections on your way to the Retro Lightning Collection and just get everything else along the way.
September Retro Lightning Collection

Collect 5 - September Spotlight Any Pack
Collect 8 - 99 OVR Spotlight Brett Baty
Collect 13 - 99 OVR Retro Spotlight Lance Berkman
I don't hate paying 260,000-316,000 for this Lance Berkman card in principle, but I also won't. This is the kind of Berkman I would happily DH, with just elite offensive attributes across the board. He's got decent Speed and Stealing that I would probably focus on boosting with Parallel Mods versus making him a better fielder, personally.
I'll rack up all the free packs I can and spend as little as possible before acquiring Berkman, but I have a feeling I'll add him to the squad soon that way.
Chase Pack 29 Featuring 99 OVR Awards Mike Trout
This is my kind of Chase card!
Mike Trout is the best player of his generation and perennially one of the best players featured in Diamond Dynasty. The meta being driven by switch-hitters has caused me to lose interest in most big collection or Chase packs that are switch-hitters, just because they're going to be expensive or difficult to acquire for that reason.
A player like Mike Trout, who has infinite elite 99 OVR cards to produce, being a Chase card just feels right for some reason. It's possible to nitpick this card's attributes, but this card becomes insane once you add Parallel Mods. That's perfectly fine for me, as it's a whole new layer of card design.
Trout as a player is a meta staple, and cards like this breaking up the monotony of switch-hitters actually makes it feel special. I look forward to pulling him and selling him to finally complete the Live Series.
There's your final Spotlight breakdown of the year! Will you be collecting your way to Lance Berkman, or are you waiting for the Postseason/Finest goons to drop?
