The Best Chase Utley Rookie Cards Ahead of the 2027 Hall of Fame Vote

Corey
October 25, 2026

Chase Utley got 59.1% of the Hall of Fame vote in January 2026, up from 39.8% the year before, and a jump like that usually means a player gets in soon. He needs 75% on the 2027 ballot, and many projections have him getting there. The six-time All-Star was the best second baseman of his era and a big part of the Phillies' 2008 World Series title. Here are his best rookie and prospect cards and what they sell for now.

Prices updated October 2026. Each figure is the average of the card's three most recent PSA-graded sales tracked by Card Ladder, or its most recent sale where fewer exist. Population counts are from GemRate as of October 2026.

Utley's rookie-era market is smaller than Posey's: most of his early parallels trade raw or in BGS slabs, so several prices below are recent sales rather than PSA 10 averages.

Quick Picks

  • Best rookie card: 2001 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects #BDP69 (about $850 in PSA 10)
  • Most valuable early parallel: 2002 Bowman Chrome #241 Gold Refractor /50 ($680 to $1,250)
  • Best value rookie: 2001 Bowman Heritage #304 (about $290 in PSA 10)
  • First autograph: 2002 Bowman Autographs #BA-CU (about $110 raw)

The Best Chase Utley Rookie Cards

1. 2001 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects #BDP69 (PSA 10 – $850, PSA 9 – $140)

Chase Utley card U-001

This is Utley's true rookie card, and it's the one the market cares about. It was only sold in factory sets, a year after the Phillies drafted him 15th overall out of UCLA in 2000. PSA 10s have sold for $650 to $1,050 over the past year, and with only 150 PSA 10s out of 1,219 graded, gem copies don't come up often.

2. 2002 Bowman Chrome #241 Gold Refractor /50 ($680 to $1,250 in 2026, mostly BGS)

Chase Utley card U-014

The Gold Refractor of his first Bowman Chrome card is numbered to 50 and is his most valuable early parallel. It trades mostly in BGS slabs: BGS 8.5 copies sold for $1,150 and $1,250 in June 2026.

3. 2003 Topps Chrome #438 X-Fractor /57 (with Gavin Floyd) ($615 to $809 in 2026, top sale $1,300)

Chase Utley card U-019

Utley shares this Topps Chrome prospect card with fellow Phillies prospect Gavin Floyd. The X-Fractor is numbered to 57, and copies have sold for $615 to $809 this year, with a high of $1,300 in 2024.

4. 2003 Topps Chrome #438 Black Refractor /199 (with Gavin Floyd) ($585, June 2026 sale)

The Black Refractor of the same dual-player card is numbered to 199 and sold for $585 in June 2026. It's a cheaper way into his scarce Chrome parallels.

5. 2002 Bowman Chrome #241 X-Fractor /250 (PSA 8 – $400, August 2026 sale)

Chase Utley card U-015

Numbered to 250, the X-Fractor sits between the Gold and the base Refractor. Two copies sold for $400 this summer, one in a PSA 8 and one raw.

6. 2002 Bowman Chrome #241 Refractor /500 (PSA 9 – $430, February 2026 sale)

Chase Utley card U-005

The base Refractor is numbered to 500. No PSA 10 has sold publicly, and a PSA 9 brought $431 in February. Raw copies sell for $145 to $270.

7. 2001 Bowman Heritage #304 (PSA 10 – $290, PSA 9 – $125)

Chase Utley card U-002

His other true rookie card. PSA 10s are steady at about $285, which makes it the most affordable gem-grade Utley rookie.

8. 2002 Bowman Chrome #241 (PSA 10 – $240, PSA 9 – $75)

Chase Utley card U-004

Utley's first Chrome card is technically a pre-rookie by today's rules, but it's one of his most collected cards and the base version of the parallels above. Only 47 PSA 10s exist.

9. 2002 Bowman Autographs #BA-CU (raw – $110, October 2026 sale)

Chase Utley card U-006

His first certified autograph trades mostly raw, at $95 to $165. A CGC Auto 10 sold for $207 in September, and no PSA 10 sale is on record.

10. 2001 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Futures Game Relics #FGR-CU (PSA 9 – $128, August 2026 sale)

Chase Utley card U-003

A rookie-year relic card from the same set as his true rookie, featuring a piece of a Futures Game jersey. Raw copies cost $25 to $40.

Beyond the Rookies

Utley's highest sales overall are modern cards: one-of-one patches, bat knobs and multi-player autographs from 2008 to 2026, which can sell for thousands. They aren't rookie cards, but they're worth watching if he's elected.

Utley is also in MLB The Show 26: see his 94 Vintage card. Shopping for a Phillies fan? See our Phillies gift guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

His true rookie cards are 2001 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects #BDP69, which was sold only in factory sets, and 2001 Bowman Heritage #304. His 2002 Bowman Chrome #241 is a heavily collected pre-rookie card.

As of October 2026, a PSA 10 2001 Bowman Draft #BDP69 sells for about $650 to $1,050 and a PSA 9 for about $140. A PSA 10 2001 Bowman Heritage #304 sells for about $285. Most of his base cards from later years sell for a few dollars.

His first Topps cards came in 2003: Topps #682 and Topps Chrome #438, both shared with Gavin Floyd. His true rookie cards are from Bowman in 2001.

His first certified autograph, 2002 Bowman Autographs #BA-CU, sells for about $95 to $165 raw. Graded copies are rare.

He has a good chance in 2027. He got 59.1% of the vote in 2026, up from 39.8% in 2025, and needs 75%. 2027 is his fourth year on the ballot, so he has six more chances after this one.

He received 59.1% of the vote in the 2026 BBWAA election, his third year on the ballot. Players need 75% to be elected.

His peak was outstanding, but his counting stats (1,885 hits and 259 home runs) are modest for a Hall of Famer, and voters have taken time to weigh his defense and advanced stats. His vote has risen every year.

Yes. He has a 94 Vintage card and an 88 Jolt card in MLB The Show 26, both in ShowZone's player database.
